WHAT IS A CATEGORY?A general heading with a Green background – Set by Admin.
WHAT IS A FORUM?A general subject heading within a category – Set by Admin. Forums are underlined and listed on the left side of the main page. To view all the threads within a forum, click on the forum and a listing opens up.
WHAT IS A THREAD?A specific topic within a forum – Initiated by members. Threads are also underlined. The thread (along with the author and date) with the most recent post within a forum is shown on the right side of the main page. To go to a thread, click on it and all the postings for that thread show up.
WHAT IS A POST? An initial message to begin a thread and/or a response – Initiated by members.
HOW DO I ... MAKE LOGGING IN EASY?
When the Log in box appears, make sure you have this option checked:
Log me in automatically each visit .
When you leave the site DO NOT sign out.That way when you return you will be automatically signed in every time – no need to remember passwords, etc.
HOW DO I ... ADD AN AVATAR (Small picture to go with my username)Upload the photo you want to insert to a third party hosting site like, http://www.photobucket.com or http://www.imageshack.us to make your photo into a link. Make sure to reduce the size of the photo significantly before you upload. You can do this in a program like Paint.You should then get a url code for your picture.In your Control Panel scroll down until you see the option to add an avatar.Paste in the url code (this is preferable to uploading from your computer as it uses less storage space).Please note that the avatar format is designed for portrait dimensions (70x85 pixels) and at the current time cannot accommodate wide or landscape type images without distortion.

Click on the forum (topic heading) that most appropriately fits your subject matter.Centered, above and below the thread listings of the forum you will see this:

To quote a portion of someone else’s message or a passage from elsewhere, select the text you want quoted and click on the . Your text will show up as a quote in the message preview and the posted message. To quote using a hyperink see below.
HOW DO I ... INSERT A HYPERLINK INTO MY POST?
To insert a link to another thread, or forum or even a webpage we recommend the following. First find the proper url address for your link; go to the page you want to link to, right click your mouse and click on Properties.Copy the url address.Write your post, when you get to the spot to insert your link, type the name you want to use for the link, select it and click on the . When hyperlink box opens, paste this url address into the spot provided and presto you have created a link.Your text will show up as an underlined hyperlink in the message preview and the posted message.We recommend you test your link to make sure it is working properly from the preview option before posting.

Click on the icon and options for creating a table are offered to you.
HOW DO I ... INSERT A SMILIE INTO MY POST?
Click on the icon and about 25 different smiles, with their associated meanings are offered to you.
HOW DO I ... INSERT A PICTURE INTO MY POST?
Click on the icon and a box opens up where you can paste the url where your picture is stored. (see also avatars)
HOW DO I ... STAY CURRENT WITH TOPICS AND FORUM POSTS?
Subscribing to individual forums and threads is the easiest way to stay current or updated on your favourite topics.You have the option to subscribe to daily or weekly updates.You have the option to subscribe to individual forums and/or specific threads.There is no limit to the number of subscriptions you can have.When you select the option to subscribe you will be notified by e-mail from the forum hosting company (websitetoolbox) that there has been activity in the forum or thread you subscribed to.There will be a link in the e-mail taking you directly to the forum as well as a summary of the post.
To subscribe to individual forums:

When you click on Forum Tools, a small window pops up giving you the option to subscribe to the forum.When you click to subscribe, a new page is opened asking whether you would prefer daily updates or weekly updates.You can select one or the other.
To subscribe to individual threads:Open the Thread you which to subscribe to.Follow the same procedure as above, except the Thread Tools option is available at the top left of the page.

To Unsubscribe to Forums or Threads:Once you subscribe you can change these settings through your Control Panel. To get into your Control Panel go to the top right of the main forum page and click on it.Your Control Panel page opens and at the far right is your Subscription selection.Click on that and you have the option to view all the threads or forums you have subscribed to.If you want to change any subscriptions, at the bottom left is this optionChecked Forums; here using “Select Actions” you may select to unsubscribe.
Automatic Thread Subscription: In your Preferences (in your Control Panel) you have the option for automatic thread subscription for threads which you create, or threads in which you post.If you enable this option you will be sent an e-mail from the forum hosting company (Websitetoolbox) notifying you of posts in these threads.This will work independently of the subscriptions mentioned above and can only be halted by selecting disable Automatic Thread Subscription in Preferences.
HOW DO I ... QUICKLY FIND NEW POSTS?Two Ways
1.The forum recognizes your computer when you view the webpage and can show you automatically if there are new posts.The yellow file folder has new posts in it, the grey one has posts you have already read.

2.When you click on the New Posts selection at the top right of the main forum

You will be taken to a page showing you all the new posts and their location since your last visit.You can then simply click on the posts that interest you.
HOW DO I LEAVE THE KITCHEN TABLE CHAT ROOM?
When you are done chatting, click on the disconnect icon (it will have a red X on it) above the message line to sign yourself out.
